2019 Barbaresco “Vicenziana”
Silvio Giamello

Time stands still in the tiny cellar of Silvio Giamello. He and his wife, Marina, are soft-spoken and discreet, but they will graciously invite you in to sample their minuscule production. Vicenziana is a gorgeous old-vine Barbaresco with an intoxicating perfume that rises from the glass. One of our most elegant and inviting Piemontese reds, it features delicate layers of black cherry, cracked pepper, and soft leather. Take your time with this wine; there’s so little of it produced that any occasion to enjoy a bottle should be relished.

2022 Moscato d’Asti “Sorì Gramella”
Italy | Piedmont
Who could resist such a heavenly ambrosia, with its scent of kaleidoscopic spring wildflowers, fragrant citrus blossoms, and succulently ripe grapes?

2018 Barolo “La Tartufaia”
Italy | Piedmont
La Tartufaia is a divinely atmospheric truffle forest in the heart of La Morra where Giulia’s vineyards run parallel. The wines produced here, from clay-rich soil, are textbook examples of classically structured Barolo typical of the area.

2021 Langhe Nebbiolo
Italy | Piedmont
There’s no mistaking this red for anything other than Nebbiolo—perfectly ripe fruit and the telltale scents of tar and roses.

2021 Langhe Pinot Nero “Arneg”
Italy | Piedmont
Distinctly Piemontese with a nose of fallen leaves, earth-tinged bright red fruit, and a tar-like mineral streak, this delicate Pinot Nero offers a transparent expression of its place of origin.

2019 Barolo “La Tartufaia”
Italy | Piedmont
The wines produced from La Tartufaia are textbook examples of classically structured Barolo typical of the area.

2021 Langhe Nebbiolo “Villa Gentiana”
Italy | Piedmont
Giamello’s Langhe Nebbiolo is fresh and vibrant, evoking cherries, roses, and a touch of tar.

2021 Barbera d’Alba “Gens Hoelia”
Italy | Piedmont
Inky in color, dark purple fruit, hints of licorice…this is a food-lover’s friend, especially in winter months.

2018 Barolo “Le Coste di Monforte”
Italy | Piedmont
Le Coste is all about delicacy, finesse, and high-toned Nebbiolo fruit accented by perfumy floral notes.

2020 Vino Rosso “Il Goccetto”
Italy | Piedmont
This wine is playful, has gorgeous aromatics, with great acidity and when you throw a slight chill, you’re immersed in its seductiveness. A dry Brachetto with a bit of Barbera, this is my weekly house red that accompanies many meals!

About The Region
Piedmont
Kermit’s love affair with the great reds of Piemonte dates back to the early days of his career: the very first container he imported from Italy, in fact, featured legendary 1971 and 1974 Barolos from Vietti and Aldo Conterno. Regular visits since then have seen our portfolio grow to now twelve Piemontesi estates, with a strong focus on the rolling hills of the Langhe.
Nebbiolo rules these majestic, vine-covered marl slopes, giving Italy’s most mystifyingly complex, nuanced, and age-worthy reds. When crafted via traditional production methods—long macerations and extensive aging in enormous oak botti—the powerful, yet incredibly refined Barolos and Barbarescos provide haunting aromatics of tar, raspberry, incense, tea, roses, and more. At times austere in their youth but well worth the wait, they pair beautifully with the hearty local cuisine starring veal in many forms, braised beef, pastas like tajarin and agnolotti, and of course, Alba’s famous white truffles.
Surrounded by mountains on three sides, Piemonte’s climate is continental, with baking hot summers and cold winters. Nebbiolo is only part of the story here: juicy, fruity Barberas and Dolcettos represent the bread and butter throughout the region, and other native grapes like Freisa, Croatina, and the white Arneis are also noteworthy. Value abounds in the Monferrato, while Alto Piemonte also has its share of thrills to provide.
Every corner of Piemonte is rich with tradition, especially when wine is concerned. It’s no wonder we have been singing the region’s praises for over forty years.

You don’t have to be rich to cellar a great wine.
