As sublime as their Brunello is, the Sestis’ craving for a wine to be drunk cool during the warm months led them to create this rosato. It’s gentle and mouth-filling, perked up by a touch of salinity that recalls the oceanic vineyard soils—quite a sophisticated rosé that is nonetheless gay and carefree.

2021 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva “Passolento”
La Marca di San Michele
Italy | Le Marche
A luscious Verdicchio with layered textures that white Burgundy lovers chase after.
2023 Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro “Monovitigno”
Fattoria Moretto
Italy | Emilia-Romagna
This fully dry, frothy red from Fattoria Moretto might just be Italy's happiest wine.
The playful label, created by the late, famous Italian comics artist Sergio Staino, belies this wine’s class, structure, and ageability. Made from Riserva-quality Barolo Nebbiolo, it’s a throwback to the Baroli of yesteryear, profound and stately with notes of cherries, tar, blood orange, and spice.
