2025 Vin de Corse Rosé “Gris de Marquiliani”
Domaine de Marquiliani
Anne Amalric
Domaine de Marquiliani
Bandol has rightly earned its place as the world’s greatest rosé appellation, but if any region is coming for its crown, it is perhaps the island of Corsica, right across the Mediterranean from Provence. Different climates and terroirs are scattered around the island, from windswept coastal plains to more rugged inland mountains, and a thrilling variety of styles of rosé are made, mostly from Corsica’s native grapes.
The first Corsican rosé I uncork to win someone over to the island’s charms is Domaine de Marquiliani’s featherweight vin gris, made by Anne Amalric. It’s made entirely from a red grape, Sciaccarellu, but its hue is so ethereal it almost resembles a white wine because of how delicately Anne presses the fruit after harvest.
Don’t mistake this light color for subtle flavor, though. Waves of peach, melon, seaspray, and herbs come rolling across the palate, showcasing the beauty of Anne’s terroir halfway up Corsica’s eastern coast.

Corsica
I first set foot on the island in 1980. I remember looking down from the airplane window seeing alpine forest and lakes and thinking, uh oh, I got on the wrong plane. Then suddenly I was looking down into the beautiful waters of the Mediterranean. Corsica is a small, impossibly tall island, the tail of the Alp chain rising out of the blue sea.—Kermit Lynch
Kermit’s first trip to the island proved fruitful, with his discovery of Clos Nicrosi’s Vermentino. More than thirty years later, the love affair with Corsica has only grown as we now import wines from ten domaines that cover the north, south, east, and west of what the French affectionately refer to as l’Île de Beauté.
Corsica is currently experiencing somewhat of a renaissance—interest has never been higher in the wines and much of this is due to growers focusing on indigenous and historical grapes found on the island. Niellucciu, Sciarcarellu, and Vermentinu are widely planted but it is now common to find bottlings of Biancu Gentile and Carcaghjolu Neru as well as blends with native varieties like Rossola Bianca, Minustellu, or Montaneccia.
As Kermit described above, Corsica has a strikingly mountainous landscape. The granite peaks top out above 9,000 feet. The terroir is predominantly granite with the exception of the Patrimonio appellation in the north, which has limestone, clay, and schist soils. The wines, much like their southern French counterparts make for great pairings with the local charcuterie, often made from Nustrale, the native wild boar, as well as Brocciu, the Corsican goats milk cheese that is best served within 48 hours of it being made.

Promo Code Terms
There are two types of promo codes
1) a code that gives you a percentage off your order
2) a code that gives you a dollar amount off your order
How do promo codes or coupon codes work?
When you place an order with a percentage coupon code, the discount only applies to discount eligible items. An eligible item typically is a product that does not already have a discount. Sampler packs that already have discounts applied to them do not count towards the minimum of 12 eligible items. In your shopping cart, you'll see percentage discounts next to each bottle.
When you place an order with a dollar amount code, the dollar amount is added to your discount. In your shopping cart, the dollar amount is subtracted from your total, and does not show next to each bottle.
