France is where it all started for Kermit. He still had only a garage-sized retail shop when he made his first discovery, the red Burgundies of Hubert de Montille, and piggy-backed the shipment into the US in Frank Schoonmaker’s container. In 1976, Richard Olney introduced him to Château Thivin, Auguste Clape, and Domaine Tempier. Since the 1970s our French portfolio has grown to encompass 15 winegrowing regions and 143 producers. Though some of our relationships with producers now span four decades, we are constantly on the hunt for new wines in all corners of France. We’ve recently added new producers from Burgundy, Jura, and Beaujolais.
