2022 Monferrato Rosso
Tenuta La Pergola
We all need a go-to red for tricky food pairings and easygoing evenings. This laid-back, Barbera-based rosso, created just for us by the Bodda family, has the soft fruit and gentle tannins to roll with about anything, not only Italian food. From spicy dishes with a bit of heat to funky, fermented fare, if takeout is on the menu and a bottle of Tenuta la Pergola’s Monferrato Rosso is on your wine rack, then you’re all set, because sometimes the best part of a casual evening is not overthinking it.

2017 Barolo Bussia Riserva “Cascina Dardi”
Alessandro e Gian Natale Fantino
Italy | Piedmont
Alessandro Fantino’s Riservas are as good as Barolo gets.

2024 Vino Bianco
Italy | Piedmont
The unique blend of Favorita, Moscato, Arneis, and Chardonnay is dry but not tart, fruity but not cloying, and held together with a gentle effervescence.

Vermouth Extra Secco
Italy | Piedmont
You’re going to bring your martini game to a whole ’nother level with this dry Piedmontese Vermouth.

2023 Roero Arneis
Italy | Piedmont
Arneis has enough luscious, peachy body to satisfy Chardonnay drinkers, along with the mouthwatering zip of a good Sauvignon Blanc.

2020 Valli Ossolane Nebbiolo Superiore “Prünent Diecibrente”
Italy | Piedmont
The family’s top bottling of Prünent from a single vineyard is aged for an extra year in large cask and has another gear, and many corners and crevices to explore.

2023 Vino Rosso “Il Goccetto”
Italy | Piedmont
The old-school, vino rosso of our dreams—serve it chilled, perhaps in a glass pitcher, for full trattoria effect.

2017 Laboro Disobedient
Italy | Piedmont
The playful label, created by the late, famous Italian comics artist Sergio Staino, belies this wine’s class, structure, and ageability. Made from Riserva-quality Barolo Nebbiolo, it’s a throwback to the Baroli of yesteryear, profound and stately with notes of cherries, tar, blood orange, and spice.

2022 Dolcetto d’Alba “V. Pari”
Italy | Piedmont
Prime placement in a great vineyard site provides exquisite balance, gentle tannin, and notes of brambly fruit.

2022 Valli Ossolane Nebbiolo Superiore “Prünent Vigna Fornace”
Italy | Piedmont
Garrones’ first vintage from the historic site of La Fornace shows plenty of age-worthy structure, density, and ripe notes of cherry, plum, and leather.

2022 Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba “Sörì Cristina”
Italy | Piedmont
Supple, pretty notes of freshly crushed blackberries and raspberries—it will pair well with pretty much anything.

About The Producer
Tenuta La Pergola
The story of Monferrato Rosso began in a simple trattoria. Dixon and Kermit were on their way to Alba when they stopped for lunch. They were served a pitcher of Arneis that pleasantly surprised them and got the address of the producer. When they visited, they tasted several cuvées of Monferrato Rosso. It has quickly become a staff favorite, not only for its smooth earthiness and genuine regional typicity, but also for its versatility in pairing with a wide variety of dishes. We have high hopes for this everyday cuvée, because it has the finesse of a much grander D.O.C. Kermit says that it reminds him of the Piedmontese wines of old. Simple label, low price, totally satisfying!
About The Region
Piedmont
Kermit’s love affair with the great reds of Piemonte dates back to the early days of his career: the very first container he imported from Italy, in fact, featured legendary 1971 and 1974 Barolos from Vietti and Aldo Conterno. Regular visits since then have seen our portfolio grow to now twelve Piemontesi estates, with a strong focus on the rolling hills of the Langhe.
Nebbiolo rules these majestic, vine-covered marl slopes, giving Italy’s most mystifyingly complex, nuanced, and age-worthy reds. When crafted via traditional production methods—long macerations and extensive aging in enormous oak botti—the powerful, yet incredibly refined Barolos and Barbarescos provide haunting aromatics of tar, raspberry, incense, tea, roses, and more. At times austere in their youth but well worth the wait, they pair beautifully with the hearty local cuisine starring veal in many forms, braised beef, pastas like tajarin and agnolotti, and of course, Alba’s famous white truffles.
Surrounded by mountains on three sides, Piemonte’s climate is continental, with baking hot summers and cold winters. Nebbiolo is only part of the story here: juicy, fruity Barberas and Dolcettos represent the bread and butter throughout the region, and other native grapes like Freisa, Croatina, and the white Arneis are also noteworthy. Value abounds in the Monferrato, while Alto Piemonte also has its share of thrills to provide.
Every corner of Piemonte is rich with tradition, especially when wine is concerned. It’s no wonder we have been singing the region’s praises for over forty years.
