I was puzzled when someone called me a curmudgeon. Strange, I always thought that I go around smiling way too much. However, Kermit the Kurmudgeon does have a nice ring to it. Still, I’d rather be called demanding. We sell expensive wines, and I like to believe that talent such as Coche-Dury, Raveneau, Chevillon, Tempier, and Vieux Télégraphe deserve their prices. If I had my way, I’d also be known for my bargain selections. It’s not slumming. I take them home for dinner often, and not because I’m a cheapskate. Here’s a little list of my personal bargain favorites from the current inventory.
Clos La Coutale France | Southwest | Cahors
A recently opened 2016 picked up weight and complexity on its second day, and another bottle of 2013, tasted here at the shop, had developed a wonderful, Bordeaux-like note.
Here at Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant we don’t believe in selling anything mediocre, and we would certainly not put our name on a wine we didn’t believe in. So our values are just that, wines that are full of value and quality.
There are hundreds of wines in our portfolio, but not nearly enough space in our monthly newsletters to feature them all. Here you’ll find recent arrivals and new additions to our site, from half-bottles to Jeroboams, across France and Italy.
