Who hasn’t felt a pang of jealousy reading about the wines Kermit tasted in damp, dark French cellars and vigneron dining rooms during his early adventures on the wine route? 1959 Joguet Chinon, 1955 Tempier rouge, 1942 Chave Hermitage—each vibrant, alive, and in their prime, despite their many years in bottle. That’s why we take such pleasure in unearthing aged bottles we’ve tucked away over the years to share with you, our loyal customers.
In what has become a semi-annual tradition here at Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, we’ve done some digging and assembled a collection of bottles we’ve found have been drinking well in our own cellars. You’ll find whites and reds from numerous French and Italian regions dating back nearly twenty-five years, with styles and prices for everyone.
Some highlights include a taut, mineral, and almost salty Cocalières blanc, a range of Burgundies in both colors, Quintarelli’s decadent Recioto, and perfectly aged Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
