2018 Vino Rosso
Cantine Elvio Tintero
Marco Tintero—whom I’ll dub “The King of Value”—is about as relaxed as they come. To get an idea of his laid-back attitude, consider that just recently he almost lost his life in a freak accident. A piece of shrapnel flung from his tractor struck him square in the neck, narrowly missing his jugular—an incident he brushes off with a good-natured chuckle. His all-purpose rosso is mainly Barbera, and it is similarly easygoing. It is also among the few Piemontese reds that can handle a little bit of spice.

2021 Barolo “Gianetto”
Italy | Piedmont
The Barolos of Serralunga are renowned for their power and longevity, and while Porro’s Gianetto is not the unyielding, tannic beast of old, it will certainly benefit from a few years in your cellar.

2022 Dolcetto di Diano d’Alba “Sörì Cristina”
Italy | Piedmont
Supple, pretty notes of freshly crushed blackberries and raspberries—it will pair well with pretty much anything.

2020 Barolo “Le Coste di Monforte”
Italy | Piedmont
While charming now, Le Coste di Monforte will reward you for many years to come.

2023 Langhe Nebbiolo
Italy | Piedmont
Deceptively light on its feet, it finishes with an impressive tannin that begs for a hearty stew or your favorite cut of steak.

Vermouth Extra Secco
Italy | Piedmont
You’re going to bring your martini game to a whole ’nother level with this dry Piedmontese Vermouth.

2021 Barolo “Marassio”
Italy | Piedmont
Unusual for La Morra, the soil here is rich in limestone with veins of chalk, giving Giulia’s most dense, profound, earth- and mineral-driven Barolo.

2023 Langhe Nebbiolo
Italy | Piedmont
There’s no mistaking this red for anything other than Nebbiolo—perfectly ripe fruit and the telltale scents of tar and roses.

2024 Langhe Arneis
Italy | Piedmont
This dreamy wine reaffirms that we should turn more often to Piedmont not only for our reds but also for our whites!

2023 Langhe Freisa “alla mia Gioia”
Italy | Piedmont
It is bone-dry with aromas of dark forest berries, with a finish that is both grippy and slightly frothy. Pair this zippy red with salami.

2021 Barolo “Serradenari”
Italy | Piedmont
Giulia’s Serradenari bottling is a beautiful, bracing, tightly wound, and vibrant Nebbiolo full of cherry, rose petals, and citrus.
About The Producer
Tintero
The commune of Mango is the heart of Moscato country, and 20 of the Tinteros’ 30 hectares are planted to this grape. Their largest parcel is in the Sorì Gramella vineyard, whose full southern exposure and gradient of more than 20% pamper the grapes with many long hours of sunshine, without even casting shadows from one row to the next as is the case in most vineyards. The resulting wine is delightfully fizzy and slightly sweet, an irresistible combination that makes it a universal favorite. Marco Tintero also maintains that same spirit in his other wines, which are all fresh, easy, and fun to drink with friends.
About The Region
Piedmont
Kermit’s love affair with the great reds of Piemonte dates back to the early days of his career: the very first container he imported from Italy, in fact, featured legendary 1971 and 1974 Barolos from Vietti and Aldo Conterno. Regular visits since then have seen our portfolio grow to now twelve Piemontesi estates, with a strong focus on the rolling hills of the Langhe.
Nebbiolo rules these majestic, vine-covered marl slopes, giving Italy’s most mystifyingly complex, nuanced, and age-worthy reds. When crafted via traditional production methods—long macerations and extensive aging in enormous oak botti—the powerful, yet incredibly refined Barolos and Barbarescos provide haunting aromatics of tar, raspberry, incense, tea, roses, and more. At times austere in their youth but well worth the wait, they pair beautifully with the hearty local cuisine starring veal in many forms, braised beef, pastas like tajarin and agnolotti, and of course, Alba’s famous white truffles.
Surrounded by mountains on three sides, Piemonte’s climate is continental, with baking hot summers and cold winters. Nebbiolo is only part of the story here: juicy, fruity Barberas and Dolcettos represent the bread and butter throughout the region, and other native grapes like Freisa, Croatina, and the white Arneis are also noteworthy. Value abounds in the Monferrato, while Alto Piemonte also has its share of thrills to provide.
Every corner of Piemonte is rich with tradition, especially when wine is concerned. It’s no wonder we have been singing the region’s praises for over forty years.

Great winemakers, great terroirs, there is never any hurry. And I no longer buy into this idea of “peak” maturity. Great winemakers, great terroirs, their wines offer different pleasures at different ages.
