Vouvray Brut

Champalou

France |  Loire

Discount Eligible $32.00
AT CART MAX

Recently, a chef-friend extended an invite for an impromptu dinner of scallops and steak, and the only answer was yes. Champalou’s traditional method Chenin Blanc, with its lively bubbles and nose of honeydew rind and golden apples, was the perfect way to awaken our palates to start the evening—festive yet unpretentious.

NV Rosé Brut 1er Cru

Veuve Fourny & Fils

France |  Champagne

Discount Eligible $75.00
AT CART MAX

Last month, on Global Champagne Day, I was dressing for a fête with my beloved. Draped in pearls and faux furs (said fête was Edward Gorey–themed), what else were we to sip as we readied but Fourny’s rosé? A chilly night awaited outside, but summer sang inside our glasses: rhubarb and rose hips with a hint of honeycomb, and Fourny’s trademark elegant bead. It was so delightful we nearly missed the party.

NV Champagne Extra Brut 1er Cru “Platine”

Nicolas Maillart

France |  Champagne

Discount Eligible $84.00
AT CART MAX

Winter is prime seafood season, and I’m always on the hunt for new pairings. Champagne is classic, of course, but Maillart’s entry cuvée, redolent of brioche rolls and green apple skin, is an especially divine match for West Coast Miyagis. Simply perfect for a holiday apéro.

2014 Brut Grand Cru “Comtesse Marie de France”

Paul Bara

France |  Champagne

Discount Eligible $194.00
AT CART MAX

Working in wine, sometimes extraordinary bottles appear on ordinary days. Comtesse Marie’s rich, complex layers of toasted almond, quince paste, and candied lemon beg for a special occasion, but felt like pure indulgence midweek
