2015 Mâcon-Villages
Henri PerrussetA benchmark producer in our portfolio for almost thirty years now, Henri Perrusset continues to impress with his reliably refreshing, affordable, and all-around delicious Chardonnays from the heartland of the Mâconnais. After so many consistent vintages, we enjoy a relationship of mutual trust with Henri, and he is even kind enough to let us taste through each tank of the new wine every year in order for us to get first dibs on what we like best, for our very own blend.
In 2015, a vintage characterized by full-bodied wines with ripe, concentrated fruit, the challenge proved to be retaining the characteristic liveliness in Henri’s white—that crackle of bright acidity that keeps things thirst-quenching. Tasting through the fruits of Henri’s labor proved very reassuring: while certain tanks exhibited a broader, creamier, more exotic persona than others, all of the raw material displayed snappy minerality beneath layers of succulent Chardonnay fruit.
In the end, there was very little blending to be done, as Henri did the hard work for us: he crafted yet another lovely Mâcon-Villages with that perfect balance of stony nerve and mouth-coating fruit that has made this a go-to, crowd-pleasing white since 1988.

2021 Bouzeron Aligoté
France | Burgundy
Aligoté may actually be an even more precise conduit for Burgundian terroir than Chardonnay.
2021 Mâcon-Villages
France | Burgundy
A longtime personal favorite for the weeknight go-to blanc, citrusy fresh with just the right hint of salted butter to round it out.
2018 Corton Rognet Grand Cru
France | Burgundy
An explosively aromatic Corton, impeccably balanced.
2022 Mâcon-Villages “Terroir de Farges Vieilles Vignes”
France | Burgundy
The tiny village of Farges-lès-Mâcon is a wonderful terroir for textbook, perfectly opulent, floral Mâconnais.
2022 Chablis “Hommage”
France | Burgundy
My ideal situation is to devour fresh Dungeness crab smothered in garlic butter with lots of herbs sprinkled on top and pair that with intense stoniness, crisp, and racy mineral-driven structured Chablis. Try the Savary Hommage, I am telling you, a perfect match!
2022 Chablis “Vieilles Vignes”
France | Burgundy
Everything about this cuvée, from the delicately briny scent of slick oyster shells to the concentrated, pristinely focused sensation on the palate, is a demonstration of why this domaine has become one of Chablis’ very best.
2022 Mâcon-Villages
France | Burgundy
A longtime personal favorite for the weeknight go-to blanc, citrusy fresh with just the right hint of salted butter to round it out.
2022 Chablis 1er Cru “Vaillons”
France | Burgundy
A stunning value from one of Chablis’ oldest premier cru vineyards, with a lovely mouthful of stone fruit and hint of lemongrass.
2021 Marsannay Blanc “Les Longeroies”
France | Burgundy
It is pleasantly toasty and slightly nutty, evoking pretty orchard fruit and fresh citrus, with great acidity with a little grip.
2022 Vézelay Blanc “La Châtelaine”
France | Burgundy
La Châtelaine highlights what may be the best terroir of Vézelay and why this little appellation is on the map in the first place.

About The Region
Burgundy
In eastern central France, Burgundy is nestled between the wine regions of Champagne to the north, the Jura to the east, the Loire to the west, and the Rhône to the south. This is the terroir par excellence for producing world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The southeast-facing hillside between Dijon in the north and Maranges in the south is known as the Côte d’Or or “golden slope.” The Côte d’Or comprises two main sections, both composed of limestone and clay soils: the Côte de Nuits in the northern sector, and the Côte de Beaune in the south. Both areas produce magnificent whites and reds, although the Côte de Beaune produces more white wine and the Côte de Nuits more red.
Chablis is Burgundy’s northern outpost, known for its flinty and age-worthy Chardonnays planted in Kimmeridgian limestone on an ancient seabed. Vézelay is a smaller area south of Chablis with similar qualities, although the limestone there is not Kimmeridgian.
To the south of the Côte de Beaune, the Côte Chalonnaise extends from Chagny on its northern end, down past Chalon-sur-Saône and encompasses the appellations of Bouzeron in the north, followed by Rully, Mercurey, Givry, and Montagny.
Directly south of the Chalonnaise begins the Côte Mâconnais, which extends south past Mâcon to the hamlets of Fuissé, Vinzelles, Chaintré, and Saint-Véran. The Mâconnais is prime Chardonnay country and contains an incredible diversity of soils.

I want you to realize once and for all: Even the winemaker does not know what aging is going to do to a new vintage; Robert Parker does not know; I do not know. We all make educated (hopefully) guesses about what the future will bring, but guesses they are. And one of the pleasures of a wine cellar is the opportunity it provides for you to witness the evolution of your various selections. Living wines have ups and downs just as people do, periods of glory and dog days, too. If wine did not remind me of real life, I would not care about it so much.
