For this devoted reader of Adventures on the Wine Route, the wine regions of France—great and humble alike—can’t help but stir feelings of admiration and yearning for a country that has fostered such inspiring food and wine traditions over many centuries. A mention of exuberant, bistro-friendly Beaujolais-Villages, classic and earthy Chinon, or Bandol rosé that’s full of Mediterranean flavor and soul will set me dreaming of my next vacation in the French countryside.     
     For now, though, the next best thing is a sampler of wines from these beloved places that I can share with friends and family, whether they have or haven’t ever walked the stone streets of Burgundy or scaled the steep slopes of the Savoie.
