Garden of Earthly Loire Whites
6-Bottle Sampler
When it comes to crisp, versatile whites that shine both at table or all on their own, no other region comes close to matching the delicious diversity the Loire has to offer.
If I could choose only one region from which to source my white wine, it would without question be the Loire Valley. When it comes to crisp, versatile whites that shine both at table or all on their own, no other region comes close to matching the delicious diversity the Loire has to offer. The vivacious blancs hailing from the fertile vineyards along the Loire River all paint a picture on your palate, leaving an imprint and crystal clear sense of place.
This sampler features six expressions of the Loire, showcasing a medley of evocative single variety bottlings that epitomize what I love most about our Loire whites selections. Take Michel Brégeon’s old-vine Muscadet. Sourced from one of the region’s most prized crus, this Melon de Bourgogne boasts serious pedigree and incredible depth. As for the Loire’s golden child grape, Chenin Blanc, you’ll find three distinct interpretations: an elegant, classic Vouvray from the Chenin specialists at Champalou, Thierry Germain’s noble and restrained Saumur from seventy-year-old vines, and Bernard Baudry’s rare Chinon Blanc from the land of Cabernet Franc. And of course, we’ve included a couple of Sauvignon Blancs for you to compare: Chotard’s complex, true-to-its-roots Sancerre, along with Domaine Trotereau’s ripe and succulent Quincy born of warmer soils.
