Have you ever sat down for an apéritif, only to find that the only wine available by the glass is the house wine? And then, upon ordering it, you find it’s not to your liking, leaving you in the difficult position we pros refer to as “wine jail?”
     Fortunately, it doesn’t always have to be this way. At KLWM, we firmly believe the house wine should always be delicious, and if you can’t get that when you go out, it sure as hell better be the case at home. 
     This strong conviction has long guided our travels on the wine road: not just the pursuit of the most exquisite grands crus, but—perhaps even more challenging—the search for the most delightful petits vins France and Italy have to offer. As you’ll find with this six-pack, the house wines we have selected are petit in price tag only, but certainly not in flavor.
     Our long-standing relationships with wine producers in France and Italy have led to the creation of a handful of well-priced reds and whites that don’t skimp out on regional typicity or on the deliciousness factor. Every year, we visit these cellars and select from the best cuves, tweaking the blends as necessary to capture pure, fresh fruit and trademark aromatics from the wine’s terroir of origin, in an accessible style that makes it tempting to open a bottle and easy to finish one. Our house wines are designed to be versatile enough to go with whatever food is on the table, and delicious enough to keep you coming back for more night after night. Oh, and they must be affordable enough to drink on a daily basis, so you don’t have to think twice when you feel like having a glass.
     While our Côtes du Rhône rouge is perhaps our best-known house wine, we also import another generous, dark purple blend from the Vaucluse and a bright, juicy Beaujolais selected at Domaine Dupeuble. On the Italian side, we have a robust and earthy Barbera-based blend and the delicate, floral “Goccetto” from Tenuta La Pergola. Finally, the ultra-crisp Verdicchio from Colleleva is a mouthwatering option for when you crave a dry white to precede these reds. With this sampler of our house wines, you will always be covered in a pinch—and free from the shackles of wine jail.
