2017 Hermitage Blanc “La Pierrelle”
Barruol / LynchThe first time I tasted the Barruol/Lynch Hermitage Blanc was several years ago with the KLWM staff after work one night. It was love at first sip—and heartbreak by the last, since we had sold out of our shipment. I’m always happy to revisit this wine and marvel at the impressively delicate profile, yet towering potential for growth. It’s classic Hermitage Marsanne, with lychee, nectarine, white flowers, and a focused minerality that provides a solid backbone. It’s so pretty! One sip of this and you’ll be clearing out space in the cellar for a few cases.

2021 Saint-Joseph Rouge
France | Northern Rhône
From high-altitude slopes above the Rhône river, this Syrah exhibits remarkable purity and grace.
2019 Saint-Joseph Rouge
France | Northern Rhône
The violets, tapenade, and juicy black fruit in your glass is much unchanged from how it’s always been (and should be).
2021 Condrieu
France | Northern Rhône
I would say that Faury does not make Viognier, but rather one hell of a Condrieu, replete with huge apricot and peach aromas and a fresh, regal palate.
2022 Vin de France Blanc “Cuvée de Louis”
France | Northern Rhône
Golden, luscious aroma and flavor, a delicious nectar infused with honeysuckle that invites you in at first sniff for a leisurely dip.
2021 Côte-Rôtie “Besset”
France | Northern Rhône
From the classic aromas of graphite, black fruit, and roasted spice, to the total finesse of its tannins, this is Côte-Rôtie at its best.
2021 Saint-Joseph Rouge “L’Instinct”
France | Northern Rhône
It is a real-deal northern Rhône roasted-slope Syrah that walks the tightrope perfectly between creamy fruit, meaty tannins, and fresh spine.
2022 Vin de France Rouge “Cuvée de Louis”
France | Northern Rhône
Cool in the mouth, with a whiff of smoke and game, this soulful little country Syrah will do a jig with your pâtés and terrines.
2021 Collines Rhodaniennes Viognier “Les Ruisseaux”
France | Northern Rhône
Amid the lush fruit runs a delicate current of minerality that lingers on the tongue, as if the wine cascaded down a granite slope on its way into your glass.
2020 Collines Rhodaniennes Syrah “l’Art Zélé”
France | Northern Rhône
The depth, complexity, and crushed-stone minerality of a great Côte-Rôtie, all while maintaining inviting youthful fruit.
2020 Crozes-Hermitage Rouge
France | Northern Rhône
This small parcel has a fruit-forward, approachable style, yet with intense spice and licorice in there as well, perhaps from the deep-rooted old Syrah vines.

Every three or four months I would send my clients a cheaply made list of my inventory, but it began to dawn on me that business did not pick up afterwards. It occurred to me that my clientele might not know what Château Grillet is, either. One month in 1974 I had an especially esoteric collection of wines arriving, so I decided to put a short explanation about each wine into my price list, to try and let my clients know what to expect when they uncorked a bottle. The day after I mailed that brochure, people showed up at the shop, and that is how these little propaganda pieces for fine wine were born.—Kermit Lynch
