2018 Montagny 1er Cru
Jean-Marc VincentTo taste an organically made, terroir-driven bottling of Montagny is a rare treat, since most of its production is sold off in bulk to the cave cooperative. But Jean-Marc Vincent, who built his domaine from the ground up, seeks potential in the most humble appellations, which he then transforms into key players. A favorite of Kermit’s, his Montagny is elegant, racy, and vibrant, the result of Jean-Marc’s thoughtfulness, passion, and hard work. If you are looking for a white Burgundy bargain, this is hard to beat.

2021 Mâcon-Villages
France | Burgundy
A longtime personal favorite for the weeknight go-to blanc, citrusy fresh with just the right hint of salted butter to round it out.
2020 Rully Blanc 1er Cru “Rabourcé”
France | Burgundy
Rabourcé is considered one of the top premiers crus in Rully. Its old vines sit on a steep clay and limestone slope and yield a complex, powerful white Burgundy.
2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru “Les Pruliers”
Domaine Lucien Boillot et Fils
France | Burgundy
It’s floral, finessed, and delicately detailed, thanks to vines that are more than a century old, planted in 1911.
2021 Bourgogne Epineuil “Les Fauconniers”
France | Burgundy
Epineuil shares the prized Kimmeridgian marl that makes up the soils of Chablis, and this rouge echoes the bright, mineral backbone that characterizes Lavantureux whites.
2020 Marsannay Rouge “Clos du Roy”
France | Burgundy
Bouvier fashions a red that is at once serious and gay, generous and firm, bold and elegant.
2021 Bourgogne Blanc
France | Burgundy
A thirst-quenching, spirit-lifting, and downright delicious white Burgundy.
2011 Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru “La Genelotte”
France | Burgundy
The vintage, austere and tense in its youth, has matured into the best a perfectly aged Meursault can offer.
2019 Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru “La Riotte”
France | Burgundy
Old vines planted just after WWII, spicy and deep, rich and full.
2019 Bourgogne Pinot Noir
France | Burgundy
Fresh, elegant, and balanced—a screaming deal for top-quality red Burgundy.

About The Region
Burgundy
In eastern central France, Burgundy is nestled between the wine regions of Champagne to the north, the Jura to the east, the Loire to the west, and the Rhône to the south. This is the terroir par excellence for producing world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The southeast-facing hillside between Dijon in the north and Maranges in the south is known as the Côte d’Or or “golden slope.” The Côte d’Or comprises two main sections, both composed of limestone and clay soils: the Côte de Nuits in the northern sector, and the Côte de Beaune in the south. Both areas produce magnificent whites and reds, although the Côte de Beaune produces more white wine and the Côte de Nuits more red.
Chablis is Burgundy’s northern outpost, known for its flinty and age-worthy Chardonnays planted in Kimmeridgian limestone on an ancient seabed. Vézelay is a smaller area south of Chablis with similar qualities, although the limestone there is not Kimmeridgian.
To the south of the Côte de Beaune, the Côte Chalonnaise extends from Chagny on its northern end, down past Chalon-sur-Saône and encompasses the appellations of Bouzeron in the north, followed by Rully, Mercurey, Givry, and Montagny.
Directly south of the Chalonnaise begins the Côte Mâconnais, which extends south past Mâcon to the hamlets of Fuissé, Vinzelles, Chaintré, and Saint-Véran. The Mâconnais is prime Chardonnay country and contains an incredible diversity of soils.

Great winemakers, great terroirs, there is never any hurry. And I no longer buy into this idea of “peak” maturity. Great winemakers, great terroirs, their wines offer different pleasures at different ages.
