Is there any red grape more widely adored as Pinot Noir? This chameleon variety shows off myriad personalities, brilliantly translating the terroir in which its vines take root. Trying Pinot Noirs from various regions allows you to appreciate the unique qualities of each: that mineral crunch eked from granitic soil, a certain warmth imparted by sites with sunny southeastern exposure, a fresh, saline note captured by vineyards near the sea… Pinot Noir has an uncanny ability to bring out one’s inner sommelier, as you’ll see (or rather, taste) for yourself with this sampler featuring six diverse expressions.
     There are two red Burgundies: a structured and robust Maranges from Didier Regnaudot’s hilly southwest corner of the Côte d’Or, and Régis Bouvier’s most prestigious cuvée: a lush, full-fruited Morey Saint Denis from a coveted lieu-dit surrounded by grands crus. Beyond Burgundy, you’ll find an Alsatian Pinot Noir from Kuentz-Bas showcasing peppery notes and an earthy texture, as well as a complex and elegant single-vineyard Sancerre rouge. From Italy, we’ve included Cuna’s rare Tuscan Pinot, with vibrant fruit and fragrant aromatics of baked clay and herbs, and last but certainly not least, Edi Kante’s Friulian Pinot Nero: only produced in exceptional years, it offers heady aromatics of pomegranate and hibiscus culminating in a saline finish.
