Preuses is probably the stoniest-tasting of the Chablis grands crus, thanks to its unique microclimate, and is rivaled only by Clos when it comes to aging potential. Interestingly, its name is derived from “stone” due to an old Roman road between Maligny and Chablis that passed through it, rather than to its flavor. It is indisputably one of the great sites of Chablis. The Lavantureux brothers did not miss taking advantage of this inaugural opportunity—they have produced a wine that I expect to be talking about for decades. –Dixon Brooke
