2017 Côte-Rôtie “Nève”
Barruol / LynchNève is a vineyard parcel in the Côte Brune. If you don’t know what that means to Rhône fanatics, you have to taste one so you will know what the Côte Brune can do to Syrah grapes, especially when they’ve passed through Louis Barruol’s hands. Tasting Côte Rôtie this good is an event. It could mark you and become the Côte Rôtie to which you end up comparing the others.

2021 Saint-Joseph Rouge “Châtelet”
France | Northern Rhône
Hailing from a single vineyard high up on the hill above Saint-Désirat, at the middle point of the Saint-Joseph appellation, this cuvée dials up the fragrance and elegance of Monier-Pérreol’s Saint-Joseph.
2022 Collines Rhodaniennes Syrah “Les Hautes Ribaudes”
France | Northern Rhône
The perfect lively, uncomplicated Syrah you’ll want to have over and over again.
2021 Condrieu
France | Northern Rhône
I would say that Faury does not make Viognier, but rather one hell of a Condrieu, replete with huge apricot and peach aromas and a fresh, regal palate.
2019 Saint-Joseph Rouge
France | Northern Rhône
The violets, tapenade, and juicy black fruit in your glass is much unchanged from how it’s always been (and should be).
2021 Saint Joseph Blanc “Les Ribaudes”
France | Northern Rhône
Most of this blanc was aged in tank to preserve freshness, but the little bit that was aged in oak provides a glimmer of opulence.
2021 Collines Rhodaniennes Viognier “Les Ruisseaux”
France | Northern Rhône
Amid the lush fruit runs a delicate current of minerality that lingers on the tongue, as if the wine cascaded down a granite slope on its way into your glass.
2020 Crozes Hermitage “Gervans”
France | Northern Rhône
Full of finesse, it opens into black cherry fruits and plentiful violet, soft leather notes playing around the edges.
2020 Côte-Rôtie “Fongeant”
France | Northern Rhône
This cuvée is sourced exclusively from the Fongeant lieu-dit, which sits right on the border of the Côte Blonde and Côte Brune, and is renowned for sharing the best of both.
2022 Vin de France Rouge “Cuvée de Louis”
France | Northern Rhône
Cool in the mouth, with a whiff of smoke and game, this soulful little country Syrah will do a jig with your pâtés and terrines.
2020 Saint-Joseph Blanc
France | Northern Rhône
Like eating lemon curd at a party that Renoir might have painted—think something like Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette.

For the wines that I buy I insist that the winemaker leave them whole, intact. I go into the cellars now and select specific barrels or cuvées, and I request that they be bottled without stripping them with filters or other devices. This means that many of our wines will arrive with a smudge of sediment and will throw a more important deposit as time goes by, It also means the wine will taste better.
